What you get

Six answers, before you buy

Every check returns the same complete picture — whether you searched by plate or VIN, and whatever the vehicle: car, ute, motorbike, truck, caravan or trailer.

  • Money owing

Security interests registered against the vehicle, including the secured party's name and contact details. If the seller still owes money, the lender can repossess the car from you.

  • Written off

NEVDIS write-off notifications — statutory and repairable — plus flood and collision damage records reported by any state authority.

  • Stolen

Police theft records covering the vehicle itself, the number plates and the engine number.

  • Registration

The state or territory of registration, the plate on record and the registration expiry date.

  • Vehicle details

Make, model, body type, colour, year of manufacture, compliance date and engine number — so you can confirm the car matches the ad.

  • Official certificate

A PPSR search certificate as a PDF. It is your legal proof the search was made, and it protects your interest if a claim is later raised.

Two things arrive,
and you keep both

  • 1
A summary you can actually read

Every result in plain English, with the one line that matters — is there money owing — answered at the top. No jargon, no PDF hunting.

  • 2
    The official certificate, attached

The PPSR search certificate itself, as a PDF. Keep it. If a financier later claims an interest in the car, that certificate is what protects you.

How it works

Three steps, about a minute

  1. 1

    Enter VIN or plate

The 17-character VIN, or switch to Number Plate and pick the state it's registered in.

  2. 2

    Pay securely

a one-off fee by VIN, a one-off fee by Number Plate. Visa, Mastercard or American Express. No account, no subscription.

  3. 3

    Confirm, then your report

Searching by plate, we show you the vehicle we matched and you confirm before the PPSR search runs. Emailed — and texted, if you want it — usually within minutes.*

Questions

The things buyers ask us

Is a PPSR check the same as a REVS check?

Effectively, yes. REVS was the NSW Register of Encumbered Vehicles; it was folded into the national Personal Property Securities Register in 2012 along with every other state register. People still say “REVS check”, but the search you need today is a PPSR search — which is exactly what this is.

Can I really search by number plate?

Yes. The PPSR itself only searches by VIN or chassis number, so once you’ve paid we match your plate and state to the vehicle through the national registration database, show you what we found, and run the PPSR search on that VIN once you confirm. You never need to find the VIN yourself.

What if the plate matches more than one vehicle?

Occasionally a plate has been transferred between cars. After payment we show you each match with its make, model and year, and you pick the right one. The PPSR search does not run until you confirm which vehicle it is.

What if no vehicle is found?

The most common cause is the wrong state — a plate that exists in Queensland won’t be found under Victoria. If we can’t match your plate we tell you straight away and refund the search in full.

Does the seller find out I searched?

No. A PPSR search is confidential. Nothing is sent to the owner, the dealer or the financier, and the search leaves no trace against the vehicle.

What if my report doesn’t arrive?

Check your junk folder first. If it’s not there, enter your email or transaction ID on our Support page and we’ll resend it to a corrected address at no charge.

One search now beats
one bad surprise later.

A car with finance owing can be repossessed from you — even though you paid for it in full.

* Delivery time. Reports are issued within minutes while the Personal Property Securities Register is available. The register has scheduled maintenance windows, set out in our Terms & Conditions. A search requested during a maintenance window is issued as soon as the register reopens.

† Free re-check. The 14-day free re-check applies only to vehicles that returned a registered security interest (finance owing). It re-checks whether those security interest details have changed. Stolen and written-off records are not re-checked.
